Assistant coach Michael Yani enters his second season for the University of Hawai‘i men's tennis team.

Yani was born in Singapore and grew up in South Florida where he started his tennis career. Graduating from Duke University in 2003 when he was voted Duke's Male Athlete of the Year and a was a two time All-American, Yani went on to play tennis professionally on the ATP tour for 10 years, competing in 15 Grand Slam events and achieving a career high singles ranking of 143 in the world.  
Currently, Yani is the Vice President of Business Development for KOA Restoration & Maintenance. He brings a decade of sales and commercial real estate experience, having served in various roles including retail brokerage, project sales and commercial real estate asset management.  
Yani is happily married to his wife Sarah and is a proud father to their two boys, Kai and Cameron. He also serves on the board of several local non-profit organizations as a Director for the Board of USTA Hawaii, and also as the Past Chair for the Board of Directors for Navian Hawaii.
