Former University of Hawai`i tennis player Chanon Alcon begins his sixth year as a member of the tennis coaching staff. Last season, Alcon served as interim head coach of the women's program before moving over to the men's team as an assistant in January 2006.

Alcon started his collegiate coaching career with the Rainbow Wahine in 2002 as an assistant to head coach Carolyn Katayama.

A member of the Rainbow Warrior tennis squad from 1990-94, Alcon was coached by the legendary Jim Schwitters. Alcon was a first team all-WAC selection and spent most of his time at UH in the No. 1 singles and doubles positions.

Prior to attending UH, Alcon was a prominent player at Kamehameha Schools on O`ahu, where he was league champion and all-state runner-up.

Formerly the head tennis pro at the Ihilani Resort and Spa, Alcon conducted group and individual lessons. He is a member of the United States Professional Tennis Association and volunteers with the U.S. Junior Team Tennis Program.

Alcon and his wife, Jannicole, live in Honolulu with their daughters, Skyla and Anika.
