Todd Okeson is in his second season as the program’s Director of Basketball Operations. Okeson has proven to be a valuable member of the staff after bringing a wealth of experience during numerous stops along the collegiate and professional levels.
Okeson helps coordinate the program’s academics, youth camps, housing, and travel needs and will serve as a liaison for community, booster, and marketing efforts. He’ll also provide administrative support for recruiting and budgeting.
His most recent stop was at Southern Utah out of the Big Sky Conference where he was an assistant coach for the last four seasons (2012-16). Okeson, who also briefly served as the program’s interim head coach, was the team’s offensive coordinator and worked with the team’s backcourt. He was also in charge of scheduling, recruiting, and team academics.
Prior to Southern Utah, Okeson spent three years at the University of Georgia as a graduate assistant and then as an operations assistant (2009-12). He also boasts experience in the pro ranks as an operations assistant with the Reno Bighorns of the NBDL (2008-09).
A native of Kansas, Okeson has familiarity with Hawai‘i after enjoying a two-year playing career with former Western Athletic Conference rival Nevada. He was the starting point guard on the 2004 Wolfpack squad that captured the WAC championship and advanced to the NCAA Sweet 16.
Okeson and his wife Natalie have a son, Gaines, and a daughter, Micah.
