Former Rainbow basketball player Tim Shepherd begins his second season as the team's Director of Operations. Shepherd lettered for UH from 1988-92 and was a member of two postseason teams.
Shepherd's duties include coordinating team travel; assisting in recruiting, scheduling and film exchange; supervising the team managers; serving as the liaison to the booster club; and directing the annual UH Men's Basketball Summer Camp.
As a four-year letterwinner, Shepherd was a member of the 1989 and `90 squads which made appearances in the National Invitation Tournament. His freshman-year squad was one of the top turnaround teams in the country, winning 17 games after a four-win season the previous year. The 1989-90 team won a then-school record 25 games and advanced to the third round of the NIT.
In the UH record book, Shepherd still ranks third all-time in field goal percentage (.538) and eighth in rebounds (577).
For the past 10 years, has helped run a basketball clinic, Champs, with fellow Hawai`i alum Artie Wilson.
In 2004 he received his masters' degree from Chaminade University in school counseling and psychology. For the past three-and-a-half years, he served as a school counselor at Mokapu Elementary in Kailua, O`ahu.
Shepherd and his wife, Keri, have two children, Janaye and Zion, and reside in Honolulu.
