Johnny White

Johnny White begins his first season as video coordinator. White will be in charge of video operations, equipment and daily administrative duties. Last season the former Rainbow Warrior standout served as a volunteer coach.
 
White played two seasons for Hawai‘i, starting all 55 games he appeared in. After an All-American career in junior college, he served as the team’s starting point guard during the 1998-99 and 1999-2000 seasons. He averaged a team-high 36.6 minutes per game as a junior, while averaging 5.5 assists per game. As a senior, he helped guide the Rainbow Warriors to a dramatic 11-win turnaround to help kick start a string of eight straight winning seasons by UH. White remains in UH’s career top ten in assists average.
 
Following his career at UH, White spent two seasons playing professional basketball. In 2001 he suited up for the Fayetteville (N.C.) Patriots of the NBDL and helped team advance to the NBDL Finals. The following year he played for the Kansas Cagerz of the USBL. From 2004-07 White was an assistant golf pro at Bay Tree National Golf Links in Melbourne, Fla.
 
A native Orlando, Fla., White earned his bachelor’s degree in communications and is currently pursuing his masters in physical education at UH. He resides in Honolulu.
