University of Hawai'i at Manoa Athletics

Jesse Nakanishi has been the the program’s director of basketball operations for the last two seasons. The Honolulu native helps coordinate the program’s academics, youth camps, fundraising housing and travel needs and serves as a liaison for community service and booster efforts. He is also charged with the team’s scheduling and provides administrative support for budgeting.

CAREER HIGHLIGHTS

• Was a highly successful coach at both Hawai‘i Pacific University and Kamehameha Schools-Kapalama
• Helped HPU to a 29-3 overall record and 20-2 PacWest mark in 2016-17.
• The Sharks earned the second seed in the West Region of the NCAA  Division II Tournament and were ranked as high as No. 3 in the NABC   National Poll during the season.
• On the high school level, Nakanishi built a powerhouse at his alma mater,  accumulating a 174-65 record in eight seasons at Kamehameha.
• After a 17-year drought, he led the school to a pair of state championships in 2009 and 2011 with a runner-up finish in 2010.
