Chris McMillian begins his fourth year with the Rainbow Warriors and second as the team’s Director of Basketball Operations. McMillian spent his first two seasons at UH as the team’s strength coach and video coordinator.
His role with the program includes coordinating team travel; assisting with film breakdown and exchange; academics and campus outreach; supervising the team managers; and serving as the director of the team’s various summer camps.
This is McMillian’s second stint as a director of operations. He served in a similar capacity at Centenary College in Shreveport, La., during the 2008-09 season. His duties included coordinating all video activities including film exchange and game breakdown. He also assisted in the Gents’ strength and conditioning program.
Prior to working at Centenary, McMillian spent six years as a personal trainer and performance specialist in Phoenix, Ariz. McMillian assisted athletes in improving their speed quickness and explosiveness, as well as providing nutritional advice. As a personal trainer, he designed workout programs aimed at 15 trainers and their clients.
McMillian was a standout basketball player at the University of Wyoming. He started at point guard all four years for the Cowboys and helped the team to two Mountain West Conference championships and one NCAA tournament berth. McMillian finished his career ranked third all-time in assists with 434 and second for consecutive games started. He currently ranks 10th in career assist average with 3.5 per game and sixth in career steals with 136.
A native of Brea, Calif., McMillian graduated from Wyoming in 2003 with a degree in communication.
