SERIES INFORMATION
  • UNLV retained possession of the Island Showdown Trophy with its third straight win over Hawai‘i.
  • UNLV moved to 12-6 versus UH in Las Vegas, though the Rainbow Warriors still lead the overall series, 19-16.
  • UNLV has won eight of the last nine meetings in Las Vegas, including the last three at Allegiant Stadium.
  • The home team has won 14 of 17 match-ups in the series dating back to 2009.
 
UH IN THE MOUNTAIN WEST
  • UH fell to 38-72 (.345) all-time in the MW, including 16-38 (.296) on the road.
  • Timmy Chang is 12-18 in MW games  with a 4-11 mark on the road.
 
TEAM STREAKS/TRENDS
  • UH saw its streak of scoring 30+ points end at five games.
  • Hawai‘i finished with just 163 yards passing. UH had thrown for 200 or more yards in 14 consecutive games, which was the second-longest active streak in the FBS behind Duke (16). It was also the longest streak by an MW program since Nevada did it in 15 straight between 2020 and 2021.
  • Hawai‘i had its streak of at least one player with 5+ receptions come to an end at 26 consecutive games. It was the second-longest streak in the country behind Utah State and dated back to November 2023.
 
INDIVIDUAL STREAKS/TRENDS
  • After hitting a 45-yard field goal late in the second quarter, Kansei Matsuzawa improved to a perfect 23-of-23 on the season.
  • Dating back to last season, Matsuzawa has made 24 straight field goals which is the longest active streak in the nation.
  • Matsuzawa has had at least one field goal made in all 11 games this year.
  • Jackson Harris found the end zone for the fourth straight game with a 70-yard catch on UH’s opening possession.
  • Harris finished with 79 receiving yards, ending his streak of 100-yard receiving games at five.
  • Pofele Ashlock failed to register a catch for the first time in his career. He had caught at least one pass in 34 straight games dating back to the start of the 2023 season.
  • He had also previously had multiple receptions in 25 straight games.
  • Karsyn Pupunu, Jalen Smith and Jamih Otis each played in their 36th straight game, tied for the longest streak on the team.
 
INDIVIDUAL CHARTS/RECORDS
  • With his 70-yard touchdown toss on UH’s first possession, Micah Alejado pushed his season total to 19 touchdown passes, tying the UH freshman single-season record set by Timmy Chang in the 2000 season.
  • Kansei Matsuzawa now has 35 career field goals ranking 7th on the UH charts and just one behind Eric Hannum (36) who sits at No. 6. 
 
TEAM NOTES
  • UH was held to season-lows in total offense (231), passing yards (163) pass attempts (24), pass completions (15) and first downs (12).
  • The 10 points was UH’s second-lowest total of the season (6 at Arizona, Aug. 30).
  • UH has forced at least one turnover in nine of 11 games this year.
 
INDIVIDUAL NOTES
  • Jackson Harris' 70-yard catch on UH’s opening possession was his third touchdown catch this year of 70 or more yards.
  • Harris is the first UH player since 2020 (Calvin Turner) with at least three receptions of 70-plus yards in a season.
  • Harris has a team-leading 11 touchdowns this year and has scored in five of the last six contests. 
  • Of Harris’ 11 touchdowns, six have been for 30 yards or longer.
  • Kansei Matsuzawa hit his ninth field goal this year of 40 or more yards, which is tied for the third most in the nation.
  • Kilinahe Mendiola-Jensen finished with a career-high 10 tackles, the second-highest total by a Rainbow Warrior this year.
