SERIES INFORMATION
  • San Jose State defeated Hawaii for the fifth straight time.
  • The Spartans maintained possession of the Dick Tomey Legacy Trophy. They have held it since 2020.
  • SJSU leads the all-time series 24-22-1, though UH still leads 9-8-1 in San Jose.
  • The home team won for just the 4th time in the last 12 meetings between the teams.
 
UH IN THE MOUNTAIN WEST
  • UH fell to 37-71 (.343) all-time in the MW, including 16-37 (.302) on the road.
  • Timmy Chang is 11-17 in MW games with a 4-10 mark on the road.
 
TEAM STREAKS/TRENDS
  • UH saw its three-game win streak come to a close. It was the longest such streak in the Timmy Chang era and UH’s longest win streak since the 2019 squad won four straight games.
  • UH scored 30+ points for the fourth straight game. The last time that happened was during the 2016 season (vs. Nevada, at San Jose State, UNLV, at Air Force).
  • Hawai‘i has had at least one player with 5+ receptions in 25 consecutive games, dating back to November 2023, tied for the longest FBS streak in the country with Utah State.
 
INDIVIDUAL STREAKS/TRENDS
  • After hitting a 24-yard field goal with 1:16 left in the game, Kansei Matsuzawa improved to a perfect 21-of-21 on the season.
  • Dating back to last season, Matsuzawa has made 22 straight field goals which ranks as the second-longest active streak in the nation behind Laith Marjan of Kansas (23).
  • Matsuzawa has had at least one field goal made in all nine games this year.
  • Pofele Ashlock has caught a pass in all 33 games he has played in.
  • Ashlock has had multiple receptions in 24 straight games.
  • Karsyn Pupunu, Jalen Smith and Jamih Otis each played in their 34th straight game, tied for the longest streak on the team.
 
INDIVIDUAL CHARTS
  • With his 21st field goal made this year, Kansei Matsuzawa tied a UH single-season mark established by Richard Spelman in 1984.
  • Matsuzawa is eighth on the UH all-time field goals made list with 33, one behind Spelman (7th, 34).
  • Pofele Ashlock cracked the 2,000 yard milestone for receiving and now has 2,059 yards for his career. He is the 18th UH player to surpass the 2,000-yard receiving mark.
  • Ashlock now has 199 career receptions, surpassing Ashley Lelie (194) for eighth all-time.
 
TEAM NOTES
  • The UH offense has averaged 39.3 points, 393.0 passing yards, and 503.0 yards of total offense in the last four games.
  • UH averaged a season-high 6.9 yards per play against the Spartans.
  • UH has scored a touchdown on its opening drive of each half in each of the last two games.
  • After having no rushing touchdowns through its first five games of the season, UH has scored at least one rushing touchdowns in four straight games (7 total).
  • Jackson Harris (134) and Pofele Ashlock (104) each went over 100 yards receiving. It was the second time in the last three games that has happened (last vs. Utah State, Oct. 11).
  • UH surrendered opponent highs in points (45), total offense (630), passing yards (458) and first downs (26).
  • San Jose State’s 630 yards of total offense was the most by a UH opponent since Colorado State racked up 651 yards in a loss to UH in 2021.
  • The Spartans had three different players exceed 100 yards receiving, while SJSU tallied 12 plays of 20+ yards, nine of them through the air.
  • San Jose State Danny Scudero posted up a career-high 215 yards receiving, the fourth-highest total ever by a UH opponent and the most since New Mexico State’s Chris Williams 221 yards in 2008.
  • SJSU’s Walker Eget finished with 458 passing yards, the most by a UH opponent since Colorado State’s Todd Centeio passed for 527 yards in a losing effort in 2021.
  • After tallying a season-high six sacks in its last game at Colorado State, the UH defense failed to record a sack in a game for the first time this season.
  • UH also failed to force a turnover for just the second time in nine games this year.
 
INDIVIDUAL NOTES
  • Micah Alejado finished with 367 yards passing for his fourth straight game of at least 300 passing yards.
  • The last player to have four straight 300-yard games was Cole McDonald who had four straight to start the 2018 season.
  • Alejado is the only FBS quarterback to throw for 300-plus yards in four consecutive games this year.
  • Alejado notched three touchdown passes for the fourth straight time.
  • Alejado is the first UH quarterback since 2010 to throw for 300-plus yards and three-plus TDs in four straight games (Bryant Moniz).
  • Jackson Harris logged his fourth straight 100-yard receiving game, finishing with six catches for 134 yards and two touchdowns.
  • He is the first UH player to have four straight 100-yard receiving games since John Ursua did it four straight times to start the 2018 season.
  • Harris, who has a team-high seven touchdowns, has a combined six touchdowns in UH’s last three road games (at Air Force, at CSU, at SJSU)
  • Harris scored on a 68-yard catch in the second quarter and has three touchdown catches of longer than 60 yards this year (75 at CSU; 74 at Air Force).
  • Landon Sims had his first multi-touchdown game of his career with both a rushing and a receiving touchdown.
  • WIth 57 yards rushing, the senior surpassed 1,000 yards for his career (1,045).
  • Cam Barfield scored a touchdown for the second straight game with a 1-yard rush on UH’s opening drive. It was his third rushing TD this year and fifth overall.
