2023 Baseball Season Review

SEASON HIGHLIGHTS

 

  • Hawai‘i posted its second straight winning season in Big West play - marking the second time ever UH has finished above .500 since joining the conference, both under head coach Rich Hill.

 

  • Finished the season on a nine-game home winning streak and 19-7 overall at Les Murakami Stadium - the best home record since 1998.

 

  • Hit the most home runs (36) in a season for a Hawai‘i team since 2010 and scored the most runs per game (6.3) since 2007.

 

  • Highest slugging percentage (.416) in a season since 2010 and best on-base percentage (.374) since 2011

 

  • Most doubles (100) by a Rainbow Warrior team in a season since 2011.

 

  • The UH pitching staff led The Big West in ERA (4.23) in conference games for the second straight year.

 

  • Four of the top nine ERAs in the conference (Connor Harrison – 3rd, 2.70; Alex Giroux – 4th, 2.83; Harry Gustin – 8th, 3.14; Harrison Bodendorf – 9th, 3.45)

 

  • Led The Big West and finished 24th nationally in average attendance while ranking second among West Coast teams.

STRONG END TO THE SEASON

The Rainbow Warriors focused on winning one game at a time and strung together a span of nine straight at home to finish the season.

EPIC FINISH TO THE SEASON

In the bottom of the ninth inning on Senior Night, Stone Miyao hit an unbelievable walk-off home-run to finish off a sweep of UC Santa Barbara and end the season with an unforgettable moment.
