2022-23 RAINBOW WAHINE BASKETBALL

SEASON HIGHLIGHTS

 

  • The ‘Bows erased a 15-point second-half deficit, their largest of the season, to rally past UC Santa Barbara for the Big West Tournament title. 

 

  • It marked the first time in program history the ‘Bows have won back-to-back tournament titles. 

 

  • The ‘Bows earned their second straight NCAA bid and received a No. 14 seed. UH traveled to Baton Rouge, La., falling to eventual national champion LSU in a first-round matchup. 

 

  • After a 1-7 start to the season, UH finished the season strong by winning seven of its final nine contests and 10 of its final 13. 

 

  • The Rainbow Wahine finished with its fourth straight winning season and just two wins shy of its second straight 20-win season despite a depleted roster in which four players were lost to season-ending injuries.

 

  • Hawai‘i was stellar in games off the island, going a combined 11-5 in true road and neutral site contests

 

  • Four Rainbow Wahine earned all-conference honors, headlined by Lily Wahinekapu who was named to the all-Big West first team. The sophomore guard led UH in points per game (12.5), assists (95), and steals (55).

ACADEMIC HONORS

Five of our Rainbow Wahine earned All-Big West Academic Honors with their hard work and dedication on and off the court.

The Rainbow Wahine punched their ticket into the big dance for a second year in a row by reclaiming the Big West Championship after a thrilling tournament in Henderson, Nev.

'Bows in Baton Rouge

The ‘Bows punched their second consecutive ticket to the NCAA Tournament and traveled down south to take on No. 3-seed LSU in the Greenville 2 Bracket. The Rainbow Wahine were competitive for much of the game before falling 73-50 in front of 8,608 fans.
