SERIES INFORMATION
  • Western Kentucky wins the first meeting between the teams.
 
VERSUS CONFERENCE USA
  • UH dropped to 32-24 all-time against teams currently in Conference USA, including a 23-11 mark at home.
  • It marked UH’s second straight home loss to a C-USA team following its setback to Louisiana Tech in the 2018 Hawai‘i Bowl.
 
TEAM STREAKS/TRENDS  
  • After winning seven straight non-conference home games wins, UH has now lost its last two such games.

INDIVIDUAL STREAKS/TRENDS 
  • Ilm Manning has started 49 of 51 career games and 16 straight games dating back to 2020.

TEAM NOTES
  • The Warriors are off to its first 0-2 start since the 2016 season.
  • The last time UH lost its first two home games of the season was 2014 (Washington and Oregon State).
  • UH threw five interceptions in the game. The last time that happened was in the 2010 Hawai‘i Bowl versus Tulsa.
  • UH’s last six-turnover game happened in the 2019 season opener versus Arizona.
  • UH has eight turnovers in its first two games. Warrior opponents have parlayed six of those for touchdowns.
  • Juwan Jones returned a UH interception 38 yards for a touchdown. It was the third defensive touchdown by a UH opponent in the first two contests this year.
  • UH trailed 21-10 at halftime for the second straight game.
  • UH benefitted from its first turnover of the season when Riley Wilson recovered a muffed punt early in the first quarter. It resulted in a 40-yard Matthew Shipley field goal.
 
INDIVIDUAL NOTES
  • Joey Yellen made his first start as a Rainbow Warrior, playing the first quarter. He finished 4-of-11 for 36 yards and one interception.
  • Brayden Schager played in the final three quarters of the game and finished 22-of-33 for a career-high 230 yards and four interceptions.
  • Three UH quarterbacks – Yellen, Schager and Cammon Cooper – saw action within the first 1.5 quarters of action.
  • Dedrick Parson scored a touchdown for the second straight game with his 9-yard run in the second quarter. He now has 10 career rushing touchdowns as a Rainbow Warrior.
  • Nasjzae Bryant-Lelei scored his first career touchdown as a Rainbow Warrior with a 1-yard plunge in the fourth quarter.
  • The UH defense recorded its first turnover of the season with Malik Hausman’s interception in the third quarter.  
  • Matthew Shipley nailed a 40-yard field goal in the first quarter. He’s now made 13 straight field goals from 40 yards and in, a streak dating back to last season.
  • Redshirt freshman Jalen Walthall made his first career start for the Rainbow Warriors at wide receiver and finished with three catches for 53 yards.
