SERIES INFORMATION
  • UH lost to New Mexico State for the first time in 11 all-time meetings. UH was also undefeated in its previous four visits to Las Cruces.
  • The Aggies scored 45 points, their most-ever against UH. The previous high was 34 points (2011, ’21), which they eclipsed in the first half alone (35 points).
  • UH had scored 40 points or more in eight of the previous 10 meetings and finished with its second-lowest point total (26) in the all-time series.
  • The teams will meet again five of the next six years including once again in Las Cruces in 2024.
 
TEAM STREAKS/TRENDS  
  • UH has dropped 21 of its last 23 non-conference regular-season road games dating back to 2010. It's only wins during that stretch were at UMass (2017) and at NMSU (2021). 

INDIVIDUAL STREAKS/TRENDS 
  • Matthew Shipley converted field goals of 23 and 30 yards. The junior has made good on 16 of his last 17 field goal attempts from 40 yards and in, dating back to last season.
  • Blessman Ta‘ala has played in 56 consecutive games since arriving at UH in 2018.
  • Ilm Manning has started 52 of 54 career games and 16 straight games dating back to 2018.

TEAM NOTES
  • UH set new season highs in points (26) and total offense (411).
  • UH threw its first touchdown pass of the season when Braden Schager found Jalen Walthall for a 16-yard score. UH entered the game as one of two teams in the nation to have not thrown at TD pass with the other being South Florida.
  • UH won the turnover battle for the third straight game and the offense enjoyed a turnover free game for the second time in the last three games.
  • UH scored a touchdown on its opening drive for the second time this year (also vs. Vanderbilt in season opener).
  • UH’s 90-yard drive in the second quarter that ended in a 23-yard Matthew Shipley field goal, was the team’s longest drive this season.
 
INDIVIDUAL NOTES
  • Dedrick Parson has scored in four of five games this year after a pair of rushing touchdowns. He now has a team-leading six rushing touchdowns on the year.
  • It was Parson’s second straight multi-score game and fifth such game of his career.
  • Jalen Walthall scored his first career touchdown on a 16-yard pass from Brayden Schager in the third quarter.
  • It was the first touchdown pass of the season for Schager, who made his second start of the season and the fifth of his career.
  • Schager finished with a career-high 261yards on 22-of-39 passing. The 39 attempts tied a career high.
  • Virdell Edwards II recorded his second interception of the season with a third-quarter pick. Both of his interceptions have come on the road (also at No. 4 Michigan).  
  • Meki Pei made his first career start for the Rainbow Warriors at safety. The Washington transfer finished with a career-high six tackles and added a pass breakup and quarterback hurry.
  • Caleb Phillips led UH with a career-high eight catches for 138 yards. It was the best performance by a UH player this year in both receptions and receiving yards.  
  • Entering this week, no other FBS tight end had as many receiving yards (per CFBStats.com) as Phillips’ 138.
  • Both James Phillips (24 yards) and Caleb Phillips (40 yards) recorded career long catches in the game.
  • Caleb Phillips 40 yard catch from Schager in the fourth quarter was UH’s longest pass play of the year.
