SERIES INFORMATION
  • Hawai‘i leads the series 3-1, including 3-0 in Honolulu
  • UH improved to 13-14 all-time against the academies (7-13 vs. Air Force, 3-0 vs. Army, 3-1 vs. Navy). The Warriors, who will also travel to Army on Sept. 15, last faced two academies in the same year in 2013 (L at Navy; W vs. Army).
 
STREAKS/TRENDS
  • The Warriors have won their last four home openers dating back to 2015.
  • UH is has won nine of its last 10 non-conference home games.
  • UH moved to 3-0 in home openers under Rolovich and have scored over 40 points in all three openers: 41-36 over UT Martin in 2016 and 41-18 over Western Carolina in 2017.
  • UH is 5-1 in non-conference home games under Rolovich with its only loss against BYU to close out 2017.
  • UH has won two straight nationally televised game. Prior to that they had lost five straight on national television and won just twice in its previous 36 games.
  • UH has started the season 2-0 for the second straight year.
  • UH scored a touchdown on the opening drive for the second straight week.  

TEAM NOTES
  • UH’s 59 points were its most since scoring that many in a win over UNLV in 2010.
  • UH enjoyed its biggest halftime lead (24; 38-14) since leading UNLV 31-0 at the break in 2012.
  • UH blocked a punt for the first time since 2016 and returned a blocked punt for the first time since 2015 when Max Hendrie returned Jeff Keene’s blocked punt 19 yards for a touchdown in the second quarter.
  • UH went a perfect 4-of-4 in the red zone vs. Navy and are a perfect 11-of-11 on the year.
  • UH has scored in seven of eight quarters this season.
  • The Warriors debuted its new home uniforms, wearing black jerseys with black bottoms and black helmets.
  • UH wore a special Hawaiian islands chain decal on the left side of their helmet in place of its normal green “H” logo for the second straight week.
INDIVIDUAL NOTES
  • Cole McDonald threw for 428 yards to become the first UH quarterback to pass for 400-yards in back-to-back games since Bryant Moniz accomplished the feat in 2011 vs UC Davis (424) and at Louisiana Tech (410).
  • McDonald’s six passing touchdowns were the most since Sean Schroeder (6) in 2013 at Wyoming.
  • John Ursua posted his seventh career 100-yard game after he finished with 10 catches for 167 yards and two touchdowns. The junior had 127 of his yards in the first half alone.  
  • JoJo Ward scored his first career touchdown on a 34-yard touchdown on a  fourth-down conversion in the second quarter and also added a 75-yard TD catch in the fourth. The junior finished with 167 yards on 10 receptions.
  • Ursua has scored at least one touchdown in seven of his last eight games played.
  • Cedric Byrd had 11 catches for the second straight week, while accumulating 90 yards and two touchdowns.
  • Freddy Holly scored his first career touchdown in the first quarter on a 1-yard run. The score was preceded by a career-high 28-yard run by the sophomore.
  • Senior linebacker Jahlani Tavai returned to action after missing the season opener and finished with a team-high nine tackles.
  • Tavai moved into the top five all-time in tackles at UH with 318 after surpassing Corey Paredes (315), Nate Jackson (316) and Adam Leonard (316).
  • Junior Manly Williams made his first career start at defensive end and finished with a career-high six tackles and two sacks.
