SERIES INFORMATION
  • Hawai‘i and WCU met for the first time. It was UH’s first meeting and win against a team from the Southern Conference.
 
STREAKS/TRENDS
  • UH has won its last three home openers (2015 – Colorado; 2016 - UT Martin).  
  • UH has won its last 15 games versus Football Championship Subdivision (FCS) teams.
  • UH has won its last five games dating back to last season. The five-game win streak is the longest since the 2010 team won six straight.
  • UH has won its last eight non-conference home games. Its last loss came against Oregon State (30-38) in 2014.
  • Senior tackle Dejon Allen made his 40th straight start, the longest streak on the team. 
  • Senior safety Trayvon Henderson made his 29th straight start, the longest streak on the defensive side of the ball. 
  • Sophomore kicker Ryan Meskell’s missed from 38 yards out in the first quarter, marking UH’s first missed field goal since the 2015 season. UH kickers had converted on 14 straight kicks, including 13 straight by Rigo Sanchez in 2016.
  • UH has turned the ball over at least once in 24 of the last 25 games.
          
TEAM NOTES
  • UH blocked three Western Carolina field goals, setting a new school record for blocked kicks in a game.

INDIVIDUAL NOTES
  • Senior running back Diocemy Saint Juste became the first player in school history to log a pair of 200-yard rushing games in his career after finishing with 202 yards on a career-high tying 25 carries.
  • Saint Juste surpassed 100 in just over one quarter of action and finished with 181 yards in the first half alone. He was nine yards shy of the UH record for rushing yards in a half (190) set by Anthony Edgar vs. Air Force in 1982.
  • Saint Juste also scored his first touchdown of the year and seventh of his career on a 1-yard run in the first quarter.
  • Saint Juste now has six career 100-yard rushing game and three in the last four contests dating back to last year.
  • Dylan Collie recorded his second 100 yard game of his career with 104 yards and one touchdown on seven catches. It was his first such game since logging a career high 113 yards at New Mexico as a freshman in 2015.
  • Ryan Tuiasoa found the endzone for the second straight week with a pair of 1-yards runs in the first and fourth quarters. The senior finished with a career-high 82 yards, including a 32-yard run in the fourth quarter.
  • Meffy Kolamatangi blocked two Western Carolina field goals, tying a UH record for blocked kicks, done five previous times. The last player to have two blocks in one game was Robert Grant who blocked two punts at SMU in 2001.
  • Junior safety Daniel Lewis registered his third career interception and first since 2014 when picked off Tyrie Adams in the first quarter.
  • Trayvon Henderson scored his second career touchdown after returning a blocked field goal 89 yards to put UH up 27-10 in the third quarter. Henderson’s other touchdown came on a 68-yard interception return in the 2016 Hawaii Bowl.
  • Sophomore defensive lineman Viane Moala registered his third career blocked when he stuffed a 25-yard attempt by Western Carolina in the first quarter.
  • Junior Dakota Torres scored his first touchdown of the season and the third of his career on a nine-yard grab from Dru Brown in the third quarter.  
  • Sophomore wide receiver Kalakaua Timoteo made his first career start at wide receiver.
  • Sophomore safety Keala Stantiago made his second career start and first of the season and finished with three tackles, one sack and one forced fumble  
  • Junior quarterback Dru Brown has accounted for 16 touchdowns in the last four games, dating back to last season (14 pass, 2 rush).
  • Redshirt freshman Cole McDonald made his first career appearance in the fourth quarter and finished with 1-for-3 passing for no yards.
