Post-Game Quotes
Hawai‘i vs. Wyoming
Oct. 11, 2014 UH Head Coach Norm Chow Opening statement:Thought our guys played hard, they’re a very resilient bunch of guys. We’re a football team and we take pride in ourselves and we talk about that every day and how we have each others back. When the offense was sputtering, our defense stepped up then look what Ikaika (Woolsey) did. We’re very pleased to get the win and start off conference play this way.
On the performance of backup quarterback Ikaika Woolsey..He just needed to take a step back and reflect a little bit. He was ready and he practiced hard all week long and was ready to go. He knew he needed to take a step back and reassess what his skills were. He did a nice job for us.
On making adjustments at halftime..They were playing a coverage we had to adjust to. Our coaches were busy making schematic adjustments and Kevin (Clune) was making adjustments with his defense. We obviously had to make up 11 points but I knew we had a chance. I love the way they play and I knew we were still in the ball game.
On the performance of RB Diocemy Saint Juste..It was nice to see. He’s been around a bit, but he needed to step up and he knew that he wanted an opportunity. He got it, and it worked out.
Wyoming Head Coach Craig Bohl On losing an 11-point lead at halftime..I thought Hawai‘i was very strong and physical. We had guys at the point of attack and there were a lot of broken tackles, which is an indication fundamentally that we can improve some. Hawai‘i is a strong football team. There’s certainly things we need to do to execute better.
On UH QB Ikaika Woolsey entering game in the second half..(It) certainly game them (Hawai‘i) a spark. But we were having a difficult time for a while just with their base runs. However, I thought in the second half, their offense was more prolific and that was evident by the number of points they scored.
On the offense..We got to take a look at the tape. Obviously you got a freshman offensive tackle starting and that’s always a challenge…we can play better in all phases of the game. To beat a team on the road in the Mountain West, you need to do that.
On the missed 51-yard field goal attempt to tie game in fourth quarter..We felt like he (Stuart Williams) was capable of 50 yards…51 or 52. I thought he hit it ok. He might have got under the ball a little bit and the accuracy was there, but the leg wasn’t there.
