The Warriors completed their first season under head coach Norm Chow with a 3-9 record.
Following an eight-game losing streak, UH won two straight games to conclude the season. UH won back-to-back games for the first time since the middle of last season (Oct. 22 vs. New Mexico State & Oct. 29 at Idaho).
UH finished the season 3-3 at home.
UH’s nine losses are the most since the 2000 squad finished the season 3-9.
The Warriors amassed a season high 410 yards of total offense, including a season high 229 yards on the ground.
UH shutout South Alabama in the first half and held a 16-0 lead. The Warriors pitched a first-half shutout in each of its three wins this year (28-0 vs. Lamar; 31-0 vs. UNLV).
The UH defense held its last two opponents to a combined 90 yards in the first half (UNLV – 35; Lamar – 55).
The UH defense had a season high six sacks.
Sophomore kicker Tyler Hadden kicked a career high three field goals in the first half alone. All three kicks were 40 yards or longer.
The last time a UH kicker had three field goals of 40 yards or longer in a game was Jason Elam versus UTEP in 1991.
Junior cornerback Mike Edwards recorded an interception for the second straight game with a pick in the end zone on South Alabama’s opening drive.
Following the interception, Edwards lined up as a starting wide receiver.
Joey Iosefa’s 50-yard pass to Billy Ray Stutzmann was tied for UH’s second longest pass play of the season.
Senior running back Sterling Jackson scored for the second straight week with a 1-yard rush on UH’s opening drive.
UH scored on its opening drive for the third straight game. The Warriors did not score on an opening drive in the first nine games of the season.
Senior Darryl McBride, Jr., made his first career start at linebacker. McBride finished with three tackles, a sack and one forced fumble. UH leads the nation with 32 first-time Division I starters this year.
Junior Chris Gant scored his third touchdown of the season with a 26-yard reception from Sean Schroeder in the third quarter.
Ne’Quan Phillips recorded his second career interception with a fourth-quarter pick.
A total of 17 seniors were honored prior to the game and participated in the “Senior Walk” following the conclusion of the game.
One of the seniors was long snapper Luke Ingram who played in all 52 games in his career and did not miss a single snap.
