Post Game Quotes
Hawai‘i vs. Cal Poly
Feb. 20, 2010

UH Head Coach Bob Nash

On the difference in the game…
“I think that when Cal Poly came out they shot the ball extremely well and they were able to put up some shots and they were red hot, but on the other end our defense didn’t lack the intensity that we needed to stop them and once you get a team that gets a feel and starts to make shots its pretty hard to slow them down.”

“…we got the game down to a 10-point game and then we gave them a couple of wide open looks and they knocked down a couple of threes.”

“He (Hiram Thompson) showed some pride, he came out and he had 13 points. Rod Flemings now owns the scoring record in the Stan Sheriff Center with 39.”

On the team’s defensive struggles…
“That’s manageable (turnovers), but it’s all on the defense, we’ve got to stop people and you look at their (Cal Poly) field goal percentage, they shot 61 for twos, 52 for threes and they stepped up to the line and knocked it down for 77 percent. We out-rebounded them, but we just didn’t get enough defensive stops.”

On the team’s free throw shooting…
“When you’re shooting pretty well in practice, it’s a matter of when you step up there you’ve got to have concentration. I think the guys, Petras had a good shooting night from the free throw line, and he only missed one. Rod, I think he only missed two.”
