UH vs. Arkansas-Pine Bluff
Nov. 19, 2010

UH Head Coach Gib Arnold

Overall thoughts on the contest…
I thought we were really unselfish with the ball, there was one instance late in the second half where Bo (Barnes) and Zane (Johnson) were throwing the ball back and forth, and that each of them were great shooters. We played unselfishly, we played together but we didn’t shoot the ball well tonight. We have guys that can shoot it and we did not shoot it like we have been in the past and that hurt us especially early.

On the game being as close as it was…
Surprisingly in this game, I wasn’t upset or nervous. I knew that we were a better shooting team than we were and we weren’t hitting shots early, and that made the game really close. But I thought that the effort was still there, these guys played hard tonight, and played a lot more minutes than I probably wanted them to play, at least the starters. We’ve been a second half team. I don’t want to rely on that but I knew coming out of the locker room that we were going to play some pretty good ball in the second half.

On sophomore center Vander Joaquim…
I think that before he leaves here he can be as good as any center in the WAC or any league we’re in. I think that he’s a fine player and that we are gonna see a lot of good things from him. His effort has always been there from day one, and today with the extended minute, his effort paid off and he kept getting rebound after rebound.
