Postgame Quotes
Hawai‘i vs. Boise State
January 4, 2010

Head Coach Bob Nash

“Our guys played team basketball tonight and I’ve got to give props to Petras Balocka, he did a great job and facilitated on the offense. Adhar Mayen really worked hard without the basketball and was very aggressive offensively as was Hiram Thompson. Paul Campbell came in and continued to impress with 14 and 9 and continued to work and hustle. I’m very impressed with the way the team played. Jeremy Lay also came in late in 2nd half and knocked down free throws which were huge for us.”

On adjustments after half time…
“We didn’t really make any special adjustments, I just told them to go out and play team basketball, continue to move ball, continue to work together and continue to look for each other. I wanted them to do the things we worked on everyday in practice and that’s what they did, they moved the basketball. The ball didn’t bark down with just one guy, it moved and the ball found a man open for lay-ups and jump shots. I thought we all did pretty well.”

On breaking BoiseState’s full court press…
“It got to us at points, but having Petras Balocka back there helped, he has a very high basketball IQ and made some good reads. With making long passes to Roderick Flemings, stepping in bounds and reversing the basketball, we were allowing him to do a lot of that stuff. Working against pressure is something that we work on everyday and it got to a point where it bothered us a couple points but once we got another ball handler in there with Jeremy lay, we didn’t seem to have any problems with it.”
