Track and Field Bio

2015 (Senior): 
  • Competed in three meets during her final cross country season
  • Posted a career-best 5k time of 23:04.0 at the BYU-Hawai‘i Invitational (Sept. 26), finishing 21st overall and fourth among UH runners
  • Competed at the Big West Championships (Oct. 31), finishing 71st in her first UH career 6k with a time of 25:55.78

2014 (Junior):
  • Competed in one meet, placing 30th at the 5k Big Wave Invitational with a time of 23:24.5

Prior To UH:
  • Attended UT Arlington for two and a half years
  • Competed on the indoor and outdoor track and field teams
  • Posted a season-best 800m time of 2:18.95 in the prelims of the 2013 WAC Outdoor Championships to place 13th
  • Placed seventh in the 400m hurdles at the 2012 WAC Championships
  • Season-best indoor time of 1:06.20 in the 400m at the 2012 Southland Conference Championships 

Prep:
  • A 2011 graduate of Walnut Grove Secondary School in Langley, British Columbia
  • Member of British Columbia’s 4x400m relay team that won a gold medal
  • Set a national youth record (3:54.25) at the 2010 Royal Canadian Legion Youth Track and Field Championships
  • Also helped B.C. win bronze in the 4x100m relay event
  • Named the Athlete of the Year at Walnut Grove from 2009-11, including Most Athletic Award in 2011
  • Set a personal-best of 1:00.82 in the 400M hurdles at the Victoria International Track Classic
  • Ranked second in Canada in the 400M hurdles and qualified for the Pan Am Games
  • Won the 400M hurdles at the 45th annual Subway B.C. Track and Field Championships
  • Also helped her school's 4x400m relay team win gold at the B.C. High School Championships in 2010 and ’11
  • Won a bronze medal in the 400m hurdles at the Western Canada Summer Games
  • Captured gold in the 400m hurdles at the B.C. High School Championships
  • Member of the Langley ‘Ukulele Ensemble and Theatre Company
  • Competed for the Coquitlam Cheetahs Track Club for 11 years

  • Brother Jarid, was a standout athlete at UTA, who won the 200m at the 2009 Southland Conference Championships
  • Parents are the late Bernie Vaughan and Debbie Vaughan of Langley, British Columbia
