RIVERSIDE, Calif. – The Hawaiʻi cross country team delivered a strong performance at the UCR Invitational 6k Invite on Saturday, earning a fifth-place team finish highlighted by program top 10 performances from freshman Atarah Robinson and junior Mikaella Martin.
 
Competing against a deep field at the Agricultural Operations Course on the UC Riverside campus, the Rainbow Wahine compiled 198 team points to out-pace fellow Mountain West schools Grand Canyon, UC Davis and UNLV.
 
Leading the charge for Hawaiʻi, Robinson and Martin both carved out spots in the Rainbow Wahine record books. Robinson crossed the finish line in 11th place overall (10th in scoring) with a time of 20:37.40, vaulting into the No. 5 spot on Hawaiʻi's all-time 6,000-meter top-10 list.
 
Martin was right behind her, taking 18th place overall (17th in scoring) in 20:43.10 to claim No. 6 on UH's all-time 6k leaderboard. Senior Emily Castles was the third UH runner across the tape, just missing out on a UH top 10 mark herself, securing 42nd place (40th scoring) by beating her 6k personal best by nearly a minute in 21:07.30.
 
Senior Zola O'Donnell placed 49th overall (46th scoring) with a time of 21:09.80, while Lucy Becker rounded out the Hawai'i top five with a time of 21:31.0. Both O'Donnell and Becker closed the race strong, climbing over 30 spots apiece over the final 2k to help vault the Rainbow Wahine up four spots as a team after sitting in ninth after the first 4,000m.
 
Kira Moe crossed the line sixth for the 'Bows and finished 124th (117th scoring) in 21:48.00. Freshman Dvdaya Swimmer (179th, 22:17.30) and sophomore Harriet Greentree (188th, 22:25.00) rounded out the team's competitors in the 6k invite field.
