Women's Tennis Preps for Big West Championship

SAN DIEGO, Calif. — The eighth-seeded University of Hawai'i women's tennis team (6-10, 3-6 Big West) opens the 2026 Big West Women's Tennis Championship by taking on No. 5 Seed UC Davis (12-11, 5-4 Big West) in a first-round match on Wednesday, April 22 at 6:00 a.m. Hawai'i Time at the Barnes Tennis Center in San Diego, Calif.

SINGLES: Junior Hannah Galindo continues to lead the 'Bows with a 12-4 overall record and a 7-2 mark in conference play. She split her matches last week, winning by retirement at Cal State Fullerton, but falling in a third set super tie-breaker at CSUN. Galindo started the season playing two matches on Court No. 6 before moving up to play five matches at No. 5. She then played two matches at No. 4 and has played the last six at No. 3. Allaire Berl enters the week with a 7-8 overall record, ranking second on the team in wins. Makeilah Nepomuceno is 6-9 overall all while playing at No. 2.

DOUBLES: At No. 2, Galindo and Nepomuceno have compiled a team-best 9-6 overall record while going 6-3 in the Big West. Last week, Galindo and Nepomuceno won both road matches at Cal State Fullerton and CSUN. They nearly shutout the Titans' Dana Kunza/Martina Markov 6-1 and followed by defeating the Matadors' Emma Moratalla Sanz and Sandra Arguelles 6-2. Overall, Hawai'i's No. 1 pair of Grete Gull and Sophie Rachor enter the tournament with an 8-8 overall record, while posting a 6-3 record in conference. Hawai'i has won the doubles point in six of its 16 dual matches this season.
