HAWAI'I NEWS & NOTES
LAST WEEK: The Rainbow Warriors closed out their final homestand of 2026 last Thursday, knocking off UC Davis, 4-1. The match started with singles and Toa Maeda and Kent Mueller quickly recorded straight-set wins to give UH a 2-0 lead. UC Davis won on No. 3, but Hawai'i's two seniors then came through in the clutch to clinch the win. Timothy Li won his first set, faltered in the second, and then blanked Kaveh Taheri in the third for the 6-2, 3-6, 6-0 win. Azuma Visaya followed with a 6-2, 4-6, 6-0 win over Lucas Bollinger on the No. 1 court to seal the victory. The win snapped UH's four-match losing streak. The match was played a day earlier than originally scheduled in anticipation of inclement weather.
SINGLES PERFORMANCE: Senior Azuma Visaya continues to lead UH with an 8-6 overall record and a 2-0 record in the Big West while playing exclusively on the No. 1 court. Rookie Kent Mueller enters the final week of the regular season with an overall record of 7-4 and is 1-1 in conference, splitting time between playing at No. 4 and No. 5. Adriano Dzhenev is third on the team with a 6-4 singles record. His last three matches have gone unfinished.
DOUBLES PLAY: Hawai'i has won the doubles point in eight of 14 in dual matches this season. Leading the 'Bows is the No. 3 pair of Dzhenev and Mueller, who hold an 8-2 record in dual matches. They won their last four consecutive decisions. At No. 2, Toa Maeda and Visaya have a 7-6 record, while Li and Nakanishi are 4-6 on the No. 1 court.
