FLAGSTAFF, Ariz.—The University of Hawai'i men's and women's diving teams opened competition at the NCAA Zone E Diving Championships on Monday at the Wall Aquatic Center in Flagstaff, Ariz.
The women competed in the 1-meter dive while the men participated in the 3-meter dive. Divers who advanced to the finals carried over preliminary scores into the final round.
The Big West Freshman Diver of the Year, Keira Chandler, led the Rainbow Wahine in the 1-meter dive, placing 10th with a score of 519.55. Lovisa Gustavsson and Macie Wheeler also advanced to the finals, finishing in 14th (511.50) and 17th (495.05), respectively. Avery Coates placed 33rd with a preliminary score of 223.80.
On the men's side, Juan Esteban Ramirez Tamayo placed 12th in the 3-meter competition with a score of 669.80. Oliver Wignall also competed in the event and posted a 27th-place finish with a preliminary mark of 290.85.
UH continues action on Tuesday at 8:30 a.m. Hawai'i Time (11:30 a.m. Mountain Time) at the Wall Aquatic Center in Flagstaff, Ariz. The women will take part in the 3-meter dive, and the men will compete in the platform dive.
