HONOLULU--The 48th-ranked University of Hawai'i women's tennis team (5-4, 2-0 Big West) recorded its first team sweep of the season, defeating Bucknell, 7-0 on Sunday afternoon at the UH Tennis Complex.
The Rainbow Wahine captured the doubles point with the No. 1 duo of
Grete Gull and
Sophie Rachor cruising past Bucknell's Mirra Manolov and Jaycie Mair, 6-2, while on the No. 2 court, UH's
Hannah Galindo and
Makeilah Nepomuceno nearly shut out the Bison's Tori Allen and Mariana Shulman, 6-1.
In singles, UH's No 5
Allaire Berl and No. 2 Nepomuceno fired shutouts against the Bison. Berl beat Summer Even-Esh, 6-0, 6-0 while Nepomceno blanked BU's Allen, 6-0, 6-0. Hawai'i's No. 4 Galindo defeated Mair, 6-2, 6-0 to clinch the win for the Rainbow Wahine.
At No. 6, Hawai'i's
Isabella Pampulov earned her first win in her first appearance of the season over BU's Kathlerine Purpuro, 6-2, 6-1. UH's No. 1 Gull held off Abby Platt, 6-4, 6-2 and rounding out the match, UH's No. 3 Rachor defeated Manolov, 6-3, 6-4.
Hawai'i and Bucknell will square off again in a dual match on Wednesday, March 11 at 4:00 p.m. at the UH Tennis Complex.
