Men’s Tennis Defeats Nevada and Goes 4-0 on Road Trip

DAVIS, Calif. – The 73rd-ranked University of Hawai'i men's tennis team (8-4, 1-0 Big West) edged Nevada, 4-3, in a tightly contested match on Saturday morning at the Marya Welch Tennis Center. The Rainbow Warriors finished the Golden State Invitational with a perfect 3-0 record and completed an undefeated 4-0 road trip for the week.

The 'Bows claimed the doubles point with victories on Courts No. 1 and 3. On Court No. 3, Kent Mueller and Adriano Dzhenev set the tone with a 6-4 win over UNR's Axel Huysmans and Maxime Contet. Kosuke Nakanishi and Timothy Li then secured the point on Court No. 1, holding off the Wolf Pack duo of Rayen Hermassi and Nicolas Recoura, 7-5.

In singles play, the 'Bows captured three matches to secure the team victory over Nevada. Adriano Dzhenev extended his hot streak with his fourth consecutive straight-sets win, defeating Ibrahim Snoussi, 6-3, 6-1. Timothy Li followed with a straight-sets victory of his own, topping Rayen Hermassi, 6-2, 7-6 (10-8). 

Nevada responded by winning two matches to even the score at 3–3. UH's Hikaru Takahashi then clinched the match for the Rainbow Warriors, bouncing back after dropping the first set to defeat Maxime Contet, 4-6, 6-3, 6-2.

After a week at home, the Rainbow Warriors will head back on the road for a pair of matches against UNLV and Loyola Marymount. Hawai'i will first take on UNLV in Las Vegas,on March 17th with first serve scheduled for 7:00 a.m. HT.
