Ramirez Tamayo Punches Ticket to NCAAs on Final Day of Zone Championships

FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. — University of Hawai"i men's diver Juan Esteban Ramirez Tamayo qualified for the NCAA Championships as the Rainbow Warriors and Rainbow Wahine diving teams concluded competition at the NCAA Zone E Diving Championships on Wednesday at the Wall Aquatic Center.

UH will send both a men's and women's diver to the NCAA Championships for the first time in four years.

Ramirez Tamayo placed fourth in the 1-Meter dive with a cumulative score of 668.35. He is the first UH men's diver to punch his ticket to the NCAA Championships since Mackaby Pennington in 2024, and the first to qualify in the 1-meter since Max Burman in 2021.

With his NCAA qualifying performance in the 1-meter, Ramirez Tamayo also earned a berth in the 3-meter competition after he finished in the top 12 in the event on Monday.
 


In the women's platform dive prelims, Lovisa Gustavsson finished 29th with a mark of 201.40, while Keira Chandler posted a score of 189.00 to place 36th.

UH's men's and women's swimming and diving teams will return to action at the NCAA Championships, hosted by Georgia Tech at the McAuley Aquatic Center in Atlanta. The women will compete from March 18-21, followed by the men from March 25-28.
