Softball Falls in CBU Finale to Host Cal Baptist

RIVERSIDE, Calif. -- The University of Hawai'i softball team (5-4) fell in the finale of the CBU Classic to host school, Cal Baptist, 9-0 in five innings at the John C. Funk Stadium on Tuesday afternoon.

Although Hawai'i tried to find a solution on offense, CBU's Annikka Hollingsworth (2-0) stymied the 'Bows firing a five-innig perfect game, retiring all 15 batters faced in the mercy-rule win. She had three strikeouts an threw just 44 pitches.

Hawai'i starter Tayrn Irimata (2-3) suffered the loss, tossing the first three innings. She allowing five runs on four hits with three strikeouts and a walk. Reliever Maryn MacNeil came in for a brief stint, getting one out, but allowing three runs on two hits with a walk. Hannah Pitts got the final two outs in the fourth, giving up a run on two hits.

The Lancers (8-3) erupted for five runs in the third and four more in the fourth. For the game, CBU pummeled UH for eight hits--including two doubles and a home run, and capitalized on Hawai'i's three errors.
