SAN DIEGO, Calif.--The University of Hawai'i women's Tennis Team (2-3) opened their three-game road swing through San Diego on Thursday. The Rainbow Wahine fell to the Toreros, 7-0 at the Hogan Tennis  Center. 

After UH's No. 1 doubles team of Grete Gull and Sophie Rachor fell, 6-2 to Vilma Krebs Hyllested and Kristina Nordikyan,  UH's No. 2 duo of Makeilah Nepomuceno  and Hannah Galindo defeated USD's Hannah Read and Gabby Gregg, 6-3 to even things at a wins apiece. But Hawai'i's No. 3 pairing of Emma Forgac and Allaire Berl came up short, falling to San Diego's Charlotte Keitel and Maria Smaova,6-2 to seize the doubles point for the early 1-0 lead.

The Toreros then started to roll in singles play. USD won the first four-straight matches in straight sets and went on to win all six matches. But IJH rookie, No. 1 Gull, took Keitel to three sets. After Gull blanked Keitel in the first frame, the Torero fought her way back to win in three full sets, 0-6, 6-2, 6-4. On the No. 3 court, UH's Emma Forgac won her second set, but fell in a third set super tie-breaker to Ines Leon, 6-1, 4-6, 1-0 (10-3) to record the sweep.

The Rainbow Wahine will take on UC San Diego in their Big West opener on Saturday, Feb. 14th at the Northview Tennis Courts.
