Women's Tennis Hosts Utah, Cal State Fullerton in Big West Opener

HONOLULU--The University of Hawai'i women's tennis team (2-1) returns to action this week with a pair of dual matches. The Rainbow Wahine will first take on Utah (3-1) on Friday, February 6th. The 'Bows will host their Big West opener against Cal State Fullerton on Saturday, February 7th. First serve for both dual matches is slated for 4:00 p.m. HT at the UH Tennis Complex.

LAST DUAL MATCH MEETING: Last meeting vs. the Utes was on April 2 in 2005. Utah won the match. 7-0.
  • After dropping their first match of the season to Big West opponent UC Santa Barbara, 4-3, the Utes have reeled off three-straight wins over Idaho State, Utah State and Montana.
  • The Utes are led in singles by 37th-ranked Emma Kamper who enters this week with an 11-4 record

LAST DUAL MATCH MEETING: Last year, UH edged out CSUF, 4-3 on March 18, 2025
  • The Titans enter the week with a 1-2 record. Cal STate Fullerton opened the season with a win over UC Riverside in a conference match, 5-2. But then fell to LMU and GCU at home
  • The Titans will open their Hawai'i roadtrip taking on Hawai'i Pacific on Friday before facing the 'Bows
  • CSUF's No. 4 Amelia Zylberman leads the team with a 2-0 record to start the season. 

NEWS & NOTES
  • The Rainbow Wahine last edged out Sacramento State in back-to-back dual matches at home on Jan. 22 and 23. 
  • UH junior Hannah Galindo clinched both wins against the Hornets. She is the lone undefeated Rainbow Wahine left on the roster at 3-0.
  • True freshman Grete Gull dominated in her two matches vs Sacramento State. She swept both of her matches against the Hornets on the No. 1 court.
  • These two matches this week will wrap up UH's opening home stand. Nest week, the 'Bows will do a tour of San Diego, Calif. as they take on San Diego (Feb. 12), UC San Diego (Feb. 14) and San Diego State (Feb. 16).
