Men’s Volleyball Takes Opening Match of Twin Bill

HONOLULU – The third-ranked University of Hawai'i men's volleyball opened its second doubleheader in three days with a sweep over Rockhurst, Friday at Bankoh Arena at Stan Sheriff Center. Set scores were 25-19, 25-9, 25-15.

The Rainbow Warriors (6-1) had little difficulty in their rematch with the Hawks, hitting a season-best .500 for the match, led by Louis Sakanoko (15 kills, 5 digs) and Adrien Roure (14 kills, 5 digs), who combined to hit .511 in 47 attack attempts. Roure did not commit an error in 24 attempts while Sakanoko dazzled the crowd with some spectacular defense.

Kainoa Wade added nine kills, one ace, four digs, and one block. Trevell Jordan returned to the lineup after missing the last three matches and tallied three kills and one block. Quintin Greenidge posted double figure digs for his third straight match with 10.

Tread Rosenthal directed an offense that produced 50 kills and finished with 37 assists, two aces, two digs and one block.

Will Stuphen led the Hawks (1-4) with six kills. A total of 18 players saw action for Rockhurst, who stayed competitive in the first set but did not see the same level of success as two nights ago after taking a set off of the Warriors.

UH will meet Roberts Wesleyan later in the day with first serve at 7:00 p.m. at Bankoh Arena.
