Men’s Volleyball Sweeps Double Dip With Rockhurst, Roberts Wesleyan

HONOLULU – The third-ranked University of Hawai'i men's volleyball completed a second straight doubleheader sweep, Friday at Bankoh Arena at Stan Sheriff Center. The Rainbow Warriors (7-1) began the day with a 3-0 win over Rockhurst before defeating Roberts Wesleyan in straight sets later that evening.
 
Match #2: Hawai'i 3, Roberts Wesleyan 0
In the nightcap, the Warriors played mostly their "B" squad with Kainoa Wade leading the way with a match-high 18 kills, hitting .444 in a 25-22, 25-22, 25-20 victory over Roberts Wesleyan.
 
Playing and starting his second match of the day, the sophomore totaled 27 total kills (4.50 avg) in the two matches with eight digs and four blocks in six sets played. Wade hit .411 in the doubleheader with only four attack errors in 56 attempts.
 
Finn Kearney added 10 kills, hitting .364 with six digs and one block. Victor Lowe started at setter and dished out 14 assists while Magnus Hettervik came in relief and posted 17 assists. As a team, the Warriors hit .344 for the match.
 
Paul Fillion led the Redhawks with 11 kills, hitting .348 and eight digs while Gavin Terp added 10 kills, hitting .533 with three blocks.
 
UH finished with seven team blocks led by Ofeck Hazan's four.  
Match #1: Hawai'i 3, Rockhurst 0
UH had little difficulty in their rematch with the Hawks in the first match of the day with a 25-19, 25-9, 25-15 victory.
 
UH hit a season-best .500 for the match, led by Louis Sakanoko (15 kills, 5 digs) and Adrien Roure (14 kills, 5 digs), who combined to hit .511 in 47 attack attempts. Roure did not commit an error in 24 attempts while Sakanoko dazzled the crowd with some spectacular defense.
 
Kainoa Wade added nine kills, one ace, four digs, and one block. Trevell Jordan returned to the lineup after missing the last three matches and tallied three kills and one block. Quintin Greenidge posted double figure digs for his third straight match with 10.
 
Tread Rosenthal directed an offense that produced 50 kills and finished with 37 assists, two aces, two digs and one block.
 
Will Stuphen led the Hawks (1-4) with six kills. A total of 18 players saw action for Rockhurst, who stayed competitive in the first set but did not see the same level of success as two nights ago after taking a set off of the Warriors.
