ON THE PITCH
DID YOU KNOW?
The Rainbow Wahine are one of 10 teams in the country with six or more ties. UH has played to three straight 0-0 draws, the first time that has happened in school history.
LOCKING DOWN
The Hawai'i defense has done a good job of minimizing goal-scoring opportunities in recent weeks, posting three straight shutouts while allowing just one goal in the last four matches. After giving up multiple goals in five of the first six matches, UH has held its opponents to one or fewer goals four of the last five times out, including four shutouts. The 'Bows have gone 310 straight minutes without allowing a goal going back to the Sept. 11 match vs. Eastern Washington. At the same time, UH has also gone 311 straight minutes without scoring. Goalkeepers
Brianna Chirpich and
Kennedy Justin have split time in goal and have combined on four of the team's five shutouts, with Chirpich playing the entire way in the other.
A LITTLE TIED UP
Hawai'i enters Thursday's match at Cal State Fullerton in the midst of a streak of four consecutive draws. After playing to a 1-1 tie vs. Eastern Washington on Sept. 11, the Rainbow Wahine have posted three straight scoreless draws, including a pair of 0-0 ties in their first two Big West matches at Long Beach State and vs. UC Santa Barbara. It's the longest stretch of ties in program history and the first time that UH has had multiple 0-0 ties in a row. The 'Bows have also played to six draws overall on the season - the most in program history.
» Tied for third nationally draws and one of 10 teams to have at least six ties on the season.
» The previous program record for ties in a season was four (2008, 2019).
» UH has gone 310 consecutive minutes without allowing a goal dating back to the 49:45 mark of the Sept. 11 match vs. Eastern Washington. 'Bows have gone 311 minutes without scoring dating back to the EWU match.
A STEADY PRESENCE
Midfielder
Izzy Ayala has been a constant presence on the pitch for the Rainbow Wahine all season, leading the team with 1,014 minutes played. The junior has played all 90 minutes in each of the last five matches, and has been on the field for the entire match seven times this year. Ayala has played at least 70 minutes in all 12 matches and is one of just two players on the team to start every game.
» Heads into Thursday's match having played 462 consecutive minutes dating back to the Sept. 4 match at Sacramento State.
» Also has matched a single-season career-high with four points, scoring a goal while recording two assists.
» Scored third career goal in a draw vs. California Baptist on Aug. 31, putting UH on the board in the second half.
» Recorded assists in road matches at Long Beach State (Aug. 14) and Sacramento State (Sept. 4).
AMBERGHINI HITTING THE GAS
Senior forward
Amber Gilbert has gotten off to a solid start in her final collegiate season. The sixth-year senior is second on the team with five points (2 goals, 1 assist), and leads the team with 14 career goals and 31 career points. Gilbert is just one goal away from cracking the UH career top 10 in goals scored and just five points away from moving into the program top 10 in that category. The Mililani native is also the most experienced player on the Hawai'i roster with 62 career matches played and 58 starts.
