HONOLULU–The University of Hawaii women's tennis team continued to host the UH Anuenue Invitational on Friday afternoon at the UH Tennis Complex. The Rainbow Wahine swept all five of its singles matches vs. Hawaii Pacific, but the Sharks notched a victory in doubles.
In doubles, Hawaii's Makeilah Nepomuceno and
Hannah Galindo nearly blanked Hawaii Pacific's Lisa Lieberman/Lynn Kader, 8-1, while the UH duo featuring alumna
Peppi Ramstedt with
Sophie Rachor combined to down HPU's Rosa Viller Moller and Willow Dymkovwski, 8-3. The Sharks' Kaia Sperry and Annika Hakovirta defeated UH's
Emma Forgac/
Allaire Berl, 8-2.
In singles, UH's Nepomuceno fired a shutout, downing Annika Hakovirta, 6-0, 6-0. Galindo cruised to a 6-2, 6-0 win over the Sharks' Lisa Lieberman. Hawaii's Berl swept HPU's Sperry, 6-1, 6-3 and UH's
Emma Forgac held off Evi Roobol by a break in the first, then pulled away in the second for the win 6-4, 6-0. UH rookie Rachor won the first set, 6-1 before Willow Dymkowski retired.
The UH Anuenue Invitational concludes on Saturday, Sept. 27 at 10:00 a.m. HT at the UH Tennis Complex.
