HONOLULU—The University of Hawai'i women's tennis team opened their 2025-26 season with a strong showing on Day 1 of the UH Ānuenue Invitational on Thursday morning at the UH Tennis Complex. The Rainbow Wahine swept all three of their doubles matches and won four of five singles matches to start the season against Hawai'i Pacific.
In doubles, UH's
Makeilah Nepomuceno and
Hannah Galindo blanked HPU's Annika Hakovirta and Kaia Sperry, 6-0. Hawai'i newcomer
Sophie Rachor and sophomore returnee
Emma Forgac teamed up to defeat the Sharks' Tereza Noah and Evi Roobol, 6-3. UH alumna and assistant coach
Peppi Ramstedt combined with
Allaire Berl to defeat Willow Dymkowski and Rosa Viller Moller, 6-3.
In singles, UH's Galindo swept HPU's Sperry in straight sets, 6-2, 6-0. The 'Bows' Nepomuceno then held off HPU's Dymkowski, 6-1, 7-5 for the win. Hawai'i's Berl followed with a 6-2, 6-2 win over Hawai'i Pacific's Lisa Leiberman.
The final two matches of the day ended in third set, super tiebreakers. UH's Forgac came up just short, falling to Viller Moller, 2-6, 6-3, 1-0 (10-8). Hawai'i's Rachor battled her way back and outlasted HPU's Hakovirta for a hard fought win,, 6-1, 4-6, 1-0 (12-10).
The two teams will square off again on Day 2 of the UH Ānuenue Invitational on Friday, Sept. 26 at 3:00 p.m. HT at the UH Tennis Complex.
