HONOLULU — The University of Hawai'i women's volleyball team continues its season-opening homestand by hosting the OUTRIGGER Invitational, Sept. 3-7 at Bankoh Arena at Stan Sheriff Center.
The tournament opens Wednesday afternoon with a match between San Jose State and Utah Valley. The Rainbow Wahine (0-3) then face San Jose State (0-2) on Thursday and Utah Valley (2-1) on Friday. After a day off, the weekend concludes with Hawai'i taking on St. John's (0-3) on Sunday.

OPENING SERVE
- The Rainbow Wahine enter the week at 0-3 following the season-opening Hawaiian Airlines Wahine Volleyball Classic. UH dropped its first three matches of the season for the first time since 2022.
- Freshman Cha'lei Reid led UH with 29 total kills and five aces and was named to the All-Tournament team. She was also in on 10 blocks and closed the weekend with a team-high 40.0 points (3.64 per set).
- Junior Tali Hakas set a career high with 17 kills in a double-double performance in the season opener against Marquette.
- Sophomore Adrianna Arquette started all three matches at setter and averaged 8.45 assist per set.
- Middle blockers Miliana Sylvester and Bri Gunderson each accounted for 12 blocks in the tournament. They are tied for second in the Big West at 1.20 per set.
- Libero Victoria Leyva opened the season with a career-high 23 digs and finished the weekend with 39.
- Utah Valley and St. John's both competed in the National Invitational Volleyball Championship last season.
- UH is 496-78 all-time in Bankoh Arena at Stan Sheriff Center since the facility opened in 1994.
TOURNAMENT NOTES
- Three teams in this week's field are coming off of postseason appearances last season. Hawai'i represented the Big West in the NCAA Tournament and Utah Valley and St. John's both competed in the National Invitational Volleyball Championship.
- Hawai'i and San Jose State meet for the 72nd time overall and for the first time since 2011. Hawai'i has won the last 42 meetings in the series. SJSU's last win over UH came on Sept. 14, 1993 in San Jose.
- Utah Valley and Hawai'i meet for the fifth time, and the first time since Sept. 2, 2021. UVU won that meeting in five sets in Orem, Utah, as part of the Utah Classic.
- St. John's and Hawai'i meet for the third time and the first time since the opening weekend of the 2019 season in the Hawaiian Airlines Rainbow Wahine Classic. UH won the last meeting in a five-set duel.
