2025 Women's Volleyball Season in Review

SEASON HIGHLIGHTS

  • The Rainbow Wahine completed the 2025 season with an overall record of 12-17 and an 8-10 mark in Big West play.
  • The 2025 campaign marked UH’s aloha season in the Big West. The Rainbow Wahine will officially join the Mountain West as of July 1, 2026. 
  • UH went 354-66 in 23 seasons of membership in the Big West (previously the Pacific Coast Athletic Association) and captured 14 conference titles (12 regular season, two Big West Championship).
  • Five Rainbow Wahine players earned All-Big West recognition. Middle blocker Bri Gunderson was named to the all-conference second team. Setter Adrianna Arquette, libero Victoria Leyva, outside hitter Cha’lei Reid and middle blocker Miliana Sylvester received honorable mention. Reid was also voted to the conference’s All-Freshman team. 
  • Arquette posted 10 double-doubles and became the first UH player since 2018 to record a triple-double.
  • Leyva's average of 4.14 digs per set ranked fourth in program history. 
  • Reid became just the fourth freshman to lead the team in kills since 1981 and the first since 2019. 
  • Reid also led the Big West with 44 service aces, the program's highest total since 2019. 
  • As a team, UH led the Big West with 1.63 aces per set. 
  • UH ranked third in the nation in total attendance (98,666) and average attendance (5,804) over 17 home dates at Bankoh Arena at Stan Sheriff Center.
  • Robyn Ah Mow bid aloha to the program after nine years as head coach, stepping away with a record of 165-72.

Bri Gunderson and Cha'lei Reid were two of five UH players to receive recognition from the Big West.

All-Big West Second-Team:

  • Bri Gunderson (MB): 234 kills, 15 service aces, 115 blocks, .300 hitting percentage

Big West All-Freshman Team:

  • Cha'lei Reid (OH): 335 kills, 44 service aces, 52 blocks, 178 digs

All-Big West Honorable Mention:

  • Cha'lei Reid (OH): 335 kills, 44 service aces, 52 blocks, 178 digs
  • Adrianna Arquette (S/OH): 910 assists, 263 digs, 23 service aces
  • Miliana Sylvester (MB): 201 kills, 95 blocks, 47 digs
  • Victoria Leyva (L/DS): 435 digs, 103 assists, 26 service aces

The Rainbow Wahine earned eight Big West Player of the Week awards in the 2025 season. 

  • Cha'lei Reid: Offensive Player of the Week (Sept. 8), Freshman of the Week (Sept. 15, Oct. 20)
  • Bri Gunderson: Defensive Player of the Week (Sept. 8, Nov. 10)
  • Victoria Leyva: Defensive Player of the Week (Sept. 15)
  • Adrianna Arquette: Setter of the Week (Sept. 8, Nov. 10)

Senior Bri Gunderson and sophomores Adrianna Arquette, Victoria Leyva and Miliana Sylvester represented the Rainbow Wahine on the College Sports Communicators Academic All-District Team.

A LEGEND BIDS ALOHA

After nine years leading the University of Hawai'i women's volleyball program, Robyn Ah Mow announced her decision to step down from her position as Rainbow Wahine head coach on April 29, 2026. Ah Mow concludes her coaching tenure with a 165-72 (.696) overall record and a 114-28 (.803) mark in the Big West. Succeeding legendary coach Dave Shoji in 2017, Ah Mow's teams won three consecutive Big West regular-season championships (2019, 2021, 2022) followed by back-to-back Big West Championship titles (2023, 2024). Ah Mow led the 'Bows to seven NCAA Tournament appearances, reaching the NCAA Regional Semifinals in 2019. She was named Big West Coach of the Year three times (2019, 2021 and 2022) and earned AVCA Pacific North Region Coach of the Year honors in 2019.
