ON THE PITCH
DID YOU KNOW?
Goalkeeper Kennedy Justin was named to the Hermann Trophy preseason watch list, which honors the collegiate soccer player of the year. Justin is one of only three keepers on the list and was also named a goalkeeper to watch by the United Soccer Coaches.

HAPPY TO BE HOME
After starting the season on the road, the Rainbow Wahine opened their 2025 home schedule by splitting matches against Central Arkansas and Oregon. UH blanked UCA, 1-0, in Thursday's home opener before falling 3-0 to Oregon Sunday. Caroline Carter scored the only goal of the match in Thursday's win, putting away her first collegiate score in the first half, while Kennedy Justin and Brianna Chirpich combined on a shutout as UH out-shot the Bears 22-6. The 16-shot differential marked Hawai'is widest advantage in shots since last September's matchup with HPU while the six shots allowed were the fewest be a UH opponent since Sept. 12, 2024 at Portland State.

A VOID TO FILL
In her first weekend in a Rainbow Wahine uniform, midfielder Leila Kahoano made an immediate impact scoring a goal while dishing out an assist for a team-leading three points. Unfortunately, the junior sustained a season-ending injury in the Aug. 17 match against Pepperdine. Kahoano didn't waste any time making her presence known scoring a game-tying goal in the 21st minute of Thursday's season opener at Long Beach State. In the 2-2 tie at Pepperdine, Kahoano assisted on UH's first goal of the match, delivering a perfect in-swinging corner kick in the 71st minute to cut the deficit in half.

» Started each of the two matches at midfielder and totaled 77 minutes in those appearances.
» One of five Big West players with both a goal and an assist on opening weekend.
» Began collegiate career at San Diego, playing one season for the Toreros in 2022.

RAISING THE EXPECTATIONS
The Rainbow Wahine enter the 2025 season with lofty expectations following last year's conference regular season title. UH was picked first in the Big West Preseason Coaches Poll, marking the first time since 2008 that the program has been tabbed as a preseason conference favorite. It's also the first time since Hawai'i joined the Big West that it has been picked to finish atop the conference. Additionally, Amber Gilbert and Nalani Damacion each earned Preseason All-Big West recognition.
