Men’s Volleyball Adds Norwegian Setter For 2026

HONOLULU – The University of Hawai'i men's volleyball program secured a commitment from Magnus Hettervik, a 6-foot-6 setter from Stavenger, Norway for the 2026 season.

Hettervik is the second signee for the Rainbow Warriors next season along with middle blocker Roman Payne of Carlsbad, Calif.

"Magnus is an impressive young man and polished player," head coach Charlie Wade said. "He follows a great lineage of Norwegian players who have each highly recommended their next countryman to join our program. Better than anyone, they know what it takes to succeed as a student-athlete. He brings athleticism, good size, a professional mindset and competitive nature that will allow him to help make our team better."

Hettervik has competed with Norway's U19 men's national team that participated in the 2022 European Championship after winning bronze in the North European Volleyball Zonal Association Championship. The team took silver at the 2023 NEVZA Championship and qualified for the 2024 European Championship.

He currently competes in club volleyball for ToppVolley, the same club that former Rainbow Warrior All-American Jakob Thelle competed in.
