LA QUINTA, Calif. – University of Hawai'i junior
Josh Hayashida carded a 4-under 68 in the second round of the 2025 Big West Championship Monday at the La Quinta Country Club.
The Mililani, O'ahu native moved up 25 spots and into a tie for 13
th place at 1-under 143. Hayashida's round included an eagle at the par-5 No. 5 hole along with four birdies. His 68 marked his third round in the 60s in his last five rounds played.
As a team, the Rainbow Warriors are tied for eighth place at 8-over 584 after a second round 1-over 289. Cal State Fullerton continues to hold the lead in the team standings at 17-under 559, three strokes over Long Beach State.
LBSU's Krishnav Chopraa extended his lead over Cal State Fullerton's Tegan Andrews to eight strokes after a second round 66.
Anson Cabello is even par 144 after a second round 1-over 73 and tied for 15
th place.
Dane Watanabe and
Tyler Ogawa each shot 2-over 74 and are tied for 38
th (149) and 46
th (150), respectively.
James Whitworth shot 78 and is tied for 53
rd at 152.
The tournament concludes on Tuesday with the third and final round. UH will be paired with UC San Diego and Sacramento State off of No. 10 with tee times beginning at 8:50 a.m. PT.
