LAS VEGAS, Nev. – The University of Hawai'i women's golf team concluded the 2024-25 season with an eighth place finish at the Big West Championship following Tuesday's final round at Spanish Trail Country Club.
The Rainbow Wahine carded a final round 299 for a three-day total of 910.
Cal State Fullerton went wire-to-wire to capture the team title at 867, 14 strokes better than runner-up UC Davis (881). Fullerton's Kaitlyn Zermeno Smith won medalist honors at 3-under 213 after a final round 73. Teammate Davina Xanh, the first round leader, was two strokes back at 1-under 215.
Sophomore
Sofina Firouzi was UH's top finisher at 7-over 223 to finish in a tie for 11
th place. The San Diego, Calif., native carded a second straight 1-over 73 on Tuesday for her best finish of her collegiate career.
Varnika S. Achanta tied for 19
th place at 9-over 225 after a final round 76.
Maline Kraus and
Emiko Sverduk also shot 76 on Tuesday and finished in a tie for 34
th and 38
th, respectively. Kraus totaled 13-over 229 while Sverduk posted 19-over 235.
Kellie Yamane shot her best round of the tournament to finish her collegiate career with a 2-over 74. The Honolulu native totaled 238 and tied for 41
st place. She completed her two-year career with the Rainbow Wahine with her best season average (77.00).
