SANTA CRUZ, Calif. – University of Hawai'i junior
Josh Hayashida posted a 2-under 68 in Round 2 of the 78
th Western Intercollegiate Tuesday at the famed Pasatiempo Golf Club.
The Mililani, O'ahu native is competing as an individual and currently tied for 17
th place at even par 140. The junior carded consecutive birdies on Nos. 11 and 12 on his bogey-free round.
Tyler Ogawa posted the team's top score of the day at even par 70 and is tied for 29
th at 2-over 142. UH is currently tied for 13
th place with Chattanooga at 736.
Pepperdine leads the team standings at 694 followed by San Diego State (696), Arizona (697), Nihon University of Japan and Stanford (699). In the player leaderboard, Arizona's Filip Jakubcik has a one-stroke lead at 9-under 131 with UNLV's Caden Fioroni (132) right behind.
Garrett Takeuchi shot 4-over 74 and is tied for 59
th at 7-over 147 while a trio of golfers carded 5-over 75 –
James Whitworth,
Nathan Szpakowicz, and
Dane Watanabe. Whitworth and Szpakowicz are tied for 63
rd at 148 while Watanabe is tied for 79
th at 151.
Anson Cabello rounds out the UH contingent at 153 and 84
th place after a final round 77.
The tournament concludes on Wednesday with tee times beginning at 8:00 a.m. PT. UH will be paired with Chattanooga and host San Jose State and are scheduled to tee off at 8:00 a.m. PT. The Golf Channel will provide live coverage from 4:00 – 7:00 p.m. PT (1:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m. HT) each day.
