Rainbow Wahine Sailors Host PCCSC Championships This Weekend

HONOLULU - For the second time in the last four years, the University of Hawaii's Rainbow Wahine sailing team will host the PCCSC Women's Championships at Ke'ehi Lagoon. The three-day event starts on Friday, April 4 and wraps up Sunday, April 6.

The weekend will include two events. Three teams will vie for the team race championship on Friday before nine schools compete in the fleet race championship on Saturday and Sunday. The winner of the team race earns an automatic bid into the ICSA Team Race Nationals, while the top two schools in the fleet race gain entry into the ICSA Fleet Race Nationals.

UH wil take on eight of the top schools on the West Coast in the fleet race - Arizona State, California, Cal Poly, Stanford, UC San Diego USC, Washington, Western Washington. UH, Cal and Stanford will be the only three teams competing in the team race portion on Friday.

The Rainbow Wahine finished runner-up in both the team and fleets race in last year's PCCSCs as well as in 2022 when they last hosted the conference championship. UH aims to gain their fourth straight bid to the fleet race nationals with a top-two finish.

This will be the sixth regatta this spring for the Rainbow Wahine who earlier this year captured the Jeff Simon Regatta in San Diego and placed second at the Bryson Women's Invite at Stanford.
