HONOLULU--The 70th-ranked University of Hawai'i women's tennis team (7-7, 5-3 Big West) fell to 50th-ranked UC Santa Barbara, 6-1 on Senior Day at tHe UH Tennis Complex.

Hawai'i's lone win came on the No. 1 singles court as UH's Ana Vilcek upset 10th-ranked Amelia Honer. Vilcek won the first set but fell in the second set by a break before holding off Honer in a third set super tiebreaker, 6-3, 5-7, 1-0 (10-8). It marks Vilcek's biggest upset of her four-year UH career. She now leads UH with an 8-3 overall dual match record.

In doubles, the Gauchos won the point, but UH's No. 1 duo of Sheena Masuda and Peppi Ramsedt defeated UCSB's Lucy Lu and Honer by a break, 6-4. Hawai'i's No. 2 team of Nikola Homolkova and Vilcek fell by a break to the Gauchos' Marie Weissheim and Raphaelle Leroux, 6-4 to capture the point.

In singles, UH's No. 2 Homolkova gave 105th-ranked Weissheim everything she could handle, but fell just short falling in three sets, 3-6, 6-3, 6-4. The Gauchos were dominant on Courts 3-6, winning in straight sets. No. 5 Katarina Vayser clinched the match with a 6-3, 6-2 win over Joelle Lanz.

After the match, UH five seniors--Nikola Homolkova, Jöelle Lanz, Sheena Masuda, Peppi Ramstedt, and Ana Vilcek--were all recognized and celebrated.

The Rainbow Wahine have three weeks off before their final regular season match on the road at UC Irvine on Saturday, April 19.
