Ostrowski Set to Compete in NCAA Championships

FEDERAL WAY, Wash.— University of Hawai'i swimmer Karol Ostrowski is the lone male swimmer from The Big West to qualify in the upcoming NCAA Division I Championships. Ostrowski will compete in the 50 free on Thursday, March 27 at the Weyerhaeuser King County Aquatics Center in Federal Way, Wash.

Ostrowski is making his second-straight appearance in the NCAA Championships. Last year at the NCAA Championships, he set a school record with his 50 free lead-off time of 18.89, which helped break the UH record in the 200 free relay with a time of 1:16.23.

Ostrowski punched his ticket to the 2025 NCAA Championships at the SMU Invitational after breaking the Roberson & Lindley Aquatics Center 50 free record with a time of 18.99. His record-breaking performance earned him his first Big West Athlete of the Week honor.

The native of Strachoin, Poland earned a team-high seven All-Big West awards--garnering honors in the 50 free, 100 free, 100 back, 200 medley relay, 200 free relay, 400 free relay, 800 free relay—matching his total medal haul from last season in the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation.

At the 2025 Big West Championships, Ostrowski captured five gold medals and contributed to all five of UH's record-breaking performances. On the opening day of competition, Ostrowski was a member of the 200 medley relay team that broke both the Big West and Hawai'i records with a gold-medal time of 1:23.64. Ostrowski was the lead-off swimmer and posted a mark of 21.00.

Ostrowski shattered two more records on day two of Big West Championships. In the 200 free relay, he set a new Big West record in the 50 free with a lead-off mark of 19.14. His lead-off time also helped UH secure gold and break the Big West record in the 200 free relay with a time of 1:16.81.

Ostrowski set another Big West record on the final day of championships with a 100 free time of 42.51. The senior concluded with a championship as a member of the 400 free relay team that also set a new Big West record with a mark of 2:52.26.
