HONOLULU – The University of Hawai'i men's tennis team (3-7) defeated Eastern Washington in dominating fashion, 6-1 on Saturday night at the UH Tennis Complex. The Rainbow Warriors have now won two straight and three out of their last four matches.
In doubles, UH's No. 1 duo of Azuma Visaya and Tianhoa Hou took care of business defeating Caden Kammerer and Tyler Dalos, 6-3. UH's No. 3 team of Quinn Snyder and Andy Hernandez captured the doubles point for the Rainbow Warriors with a win over EWU's Ashjot Bhatti and Brady Thomas, 6-2.
The Rainbow Warriors kept their foot on the gas, winning five out of the six singles matches. On the No. 1 court, UH's Visaya defeated Tyler Waddock in straight sets, 6-1, 6-3. On the No. 2 court, Hawai'i's Snyder remained undefeated at 6-0 in singles, cruising past Tyler Dalos, 6-2, 6-3. UH's No. 3 Karl Collins clinched the victory against the Eagles' Drew Dillon winning in two sets, 6-2, 6-1. On the No. 5 court, Tianhao Hou defeated Ashjot Bhatti by retirement. Hou won the first set 6-0 and was up 2-0 in the second set. UH's Andy Hernandez picked up his first win on the season in singlesdowning Brady Thomas in straight sets, 6-1, 6-4.
The Rainbow Warriors embark on a five match roadtrip which include their first two conference matches spanning from Mar. 2 through Mar. 8. UH will face Santa Clara to start the trip on Mar. 2 at 9:00 a.m. HT at the Degheri Tennis Center.
