DALLAS, Texas — The University of Hawai'i men's and women's swim teams wrapped up the opening day of competition at the SMU Invitational on Wednesday at the Robson & Lindley Aquatic Center in Dallas.
On the men's side, the Rainbow Warrior 800 free relay team of Victor Dagenais, Finn Brophy, Zane Johnson and Tom Thalau placed 10th, touching the wall at 6:29.74. But on the leadoff leg, Dagenais blazed his way to a time of 1:34.71 which ranks him at No. 4 in the UH record books. Dagenais improved his former best time which was ranked No. 7 at 1:36.55 set last February.
The Rainbow Wahine 200 medley relay A team of Alexa Ozment, Zofia Tyminska, Holly Nelson and Quincy Key came up just shy of the win, finishing second in a neck-and-neck battle with a time of 1:38.31—only 0.06 seconds behind SMU.
The 800 free relay Rainbow Wahine squad of Esther Le Maigat Lecou, Lola Davison, Gabriela Kelly and Aoife Harkin clocked in at 7:26.70 to take seventh place.
UH returns to the pool Thursday for day two of the SMU Invitational, with prelims beginning at 6 a.m. HT and finals set for 1:00 p.m. HT at the Robson Lindley Aquatic Center.
