SANTA BARBARA, CALIF. – The University of Hawai'i coed and women's sailing teams were both in competition this weekend, fielding one team each at the PCCSC Fall Championship.
In a weather-shortened event, 20 PCCSC teams completed a total of 14 races—six in A division and four each in the B and C divisions. UH's coed squad placed sixth with 103 total points, with the A, B, and C divisions scoring 32, 34 and 37 points, respectively. After a slow start, Erik Anderson and Amanda Turner in the A division placed top five in four of their last five races, including three top-three finishes. Anderson and Turner finished fifth overall in A division. Everett McAvoy and Alister Muto sailed in the B division, and the freshman pair of William Bagley and Leila Landay represented the C division. Both pairs finished eighth overall in their respective divisions.
The women's team also sailed in this competition, placing 13th with 157 total points, with the A, B, and C divisions scoring 68, 36, and 53 points, respectively. Martha Schuessler and Avery Hogue placed 12th in A division, Stella Taherian and Peyton Lieser sailed to 10th place in the B division, and Kahlia Bailey and Kylie Alexander placed 15th in the C division.
