HONOLULU - The University of Hawai'i beach volleyball program begins its fall campaign with a trio of events starting in late October. The fall will consist exclusively of pairs competition as the Rainbow Wahine compete against some of the nation's best from the shores of Hawai'i and all the way to the Deep South ahead of its 2026 spring season.

The Rainbow Wahine open the fall with the Surf City Challenge, Oct. 25-26, in Huntington Beach, Calif. The tournament will serve as a qualifier for the AVCA Pairs Nationals and will give the 'Bows an opportunity to face some of the top pairs on the West Coast.

Two weeks later, qualifying UH pairs will travel to the fourth annual AVCA Fall Collegiate Beach Pairs Championship in Huntsville, Ala. The event will take place Nov. 7-9 and will include 64 pairs from schools across the country. Hawai`i earned two bids last year based on previous NCAA results and the Surf CIty qualifier. Returning seniors Sarah Burton and Caprice Lorenzo were among last year's UH competitors.

The fall campaign closes with Kaua'i Invitational, Nov. 21-23, in Lihue. The third edition of the event will see Hawai'i face off against Arizona State and Big West nemesis Cal Poly at Kalapaki Beach. The weekend will not only feature pairs competition but also community outreach on the Garden Isle.

The Rainbow Wahine return a dozen players from last year's squad and are led by new head coach Danny Alvarez. Beside Burton and Lorenzo, UH  brings back fellow all-conference players Sydney Amiatu, Julia Lawrenz and Sydney Miller, while also welcoming six new players.  The complete 2025-26 Rainbow Wahine beach volleyball roster can be viewed here.
