Rainbow Warriors Host Utah State For Ultimate Keiki Night

HONOLULU – The University of Hawai'i football team will host Utah State in a Mountain West match-up Saturday, Oct. 11 at Clarence T.C. Ching Complex. The game's theme is Ultimate Keiki Night and Hawai'i's youth will be celebrated throughout the game. The Rainbow Warriors (4-2, 1-1 MW) and Aggies (3-2, 1-0) are both coming off bye weeks. UH will look to snap an eight-game losing streak to USU in the teams' final match-up as conference foes.
 
PROMOTIONS
American Savings Bank is the sponsor for Saturday night's game vs. Utah State in celebration of Ultimate Keiki Night. 
  • "4 Da 'ohana" ticket package includes four (4) 'Ewa endzone tickets, one (1) standard parking pass, and $50 concession vouchers for only $99. 
  • Tailgating lot opens at 2:00 p.m. Fans are invited to join the Warrior Walk, where the team will be dropped off on campus and walk through the tailgating and Pā'ina on the Path area around 3:15 p.m. Our pregame concert with Hawaii's Finest will begin at 4:30 with the electric Johnny Suite performing live.
  • Nicole Ikeda Cossi will lead the crowd with his rendition of the national anthem and Hawai'i Pono'i, while Beth Whitehead of American Savings Bank will perform the coin toss.
  • Prior to kickoff, 200 keiki will run out of the home team tunnel before the Rainbow Warrior football team to excite the crowd and create a memorable experience. At halftime, two teams from NFL Flag Hawai'i will play a short exhibition on the field. 
  • All on-field activities and challenges will be performed by keiki from the crowd, including the Raising Canes QB challenge to win a year's supply of free chicken. 
  • During the first quarter, we'll be joined by Watson Hoohuli, Reggie Dela Cruz, and Marilyn Moniz as our Legends of the Game. 
  • Rainbow Warrior basketball, Rainbow Wahine basketball, and the UH Swim and Dive team will be recognized on the field, helping with t-shirt tosses and spam musubi tosses during the game. 
  • World-renowned performer and dancer Ohiole Dibua will be a special guest, performing in the stands with fans throughout the game. 
  • One lucky keiki fan will serve as the day's special Keiki host, helping with special initiatives and hyping up the crowd throughout the night. 
  • Between the first and second quarters, a group of talented performers from the Center of Philippine Studies will perform "Dancing in the Diaspora".

GAME STORYLINES
  • Saturday's match-up is the 20th meeting between the teams with Utah State holding a 13-6 advantage, including 6-4 in games played in Honolulu. USU has won four straight in Honolulu. UH's last home win over the Aggies was in 2009 (49-36).
  • The Aggies have won the last eight meetings in the series, six of which by 20+ points, including last season's 55-10 victory in Logan, Utah. UH's last win in the series occurred in 2010, a 45-7 win in Logan.
  • The game marks the final meeting as conference members as USU will move to the Pac-12 following this season. The Aggies have won all seven contests in the series as Mountain West members. Prior to that, the schools were in the Western Athletic Conference and UH won five of the seven contests.
  • Sixteen of the 19 all-time meetings have been decided by double-digits, while the three games decided by single digits were all held in Honolulu (1927, 2011, and 2022).
  • UH (4-2, 1-1 MW) defeated Air Force, 44-35, two weeks ago in Colorado Springs, Colo. The Warriors scored the most points in the Timmy Chang era while QB Micah Alejado threw for 457 yards and three touchdowns.
  • UH is off to its best start through six games since 2019. That year, the Warriors finished with a 10-win season and made their only appearance in the Mountain West championship game.
  • USU (3-2, 1-0) dropped a 55-35 decision to Vanderbilt two weeks ago in Nashville, Tenn. QB Bryson Barnes threw for 161 yards and three TDs and rushed for 48 yards in the loss.
  • PK Kansei Matsuzawa has made his last 17 field goal attempts dating back to last season and is a perfect 16-for-16 this year, which set new UH and Mountain West records. Matsuzawa has made multiple field goals in all six games this season.
  • Both teams are coming off of bye weeks. UH has two more bye weeks scheduled this season.
  • Under Chang, UH is 1-4 following bye weeks, with its lone win in last season's regular season finale against New Mexico, which was coached by current USU head coach Bronco Mendenhall. That game marked the only meeting between Chang and Mendenhall.
  • The teams have played one common opponent, Air Force. USU defeated the Falcons, 49-30, Sept. 13 in Logan.
